With the money I receive, I plan to feed 10 families (average of 5 persons per family) for 5 days. This will give the victims some temporary relief and comfort from the disaster of the recent typhoon that hit our community. Each family will receive relief goods package good for 5 days consumption. I will buy rice, sardines, ready-to-cook noodle soup packs, sugar and milk. These will be repacked and distributed to the 10 families.
With the help my immediate family, 7 of us, will be involved here in this project and I will also recruit 3 more (other relatives or friends in the neighborhood) to make it 10 in all. Yes, this is the best way to ensure sustainability and true person-to-person aid.
In order to stretch the money is wholesale buying and this is what I am going to do because a lot more goods can be bought than retail buying. If my initial project is successful, I plan to continue working with the same 10 families to repair their houses and eventually help them to find work again. Thanks.
